Why you don’t remember everyone you meet?

British anthropologist Robin Dunbar has a theory about that.

He says humans can only juggle about 150 social relationships at a time.

WHAT?

  • We can handle maintaining relationships with about 100 to 250 people, but 150 is the sweet spot (Dunbar's Number).

  • It’s all about our neocortex, a part of the brain that deals with social stuff. Bigger brain, more buddies!

The Layers:

Dunbar isn’t just about the big 150.

He breaks it down like this:

  • 5 closest friends/family

  • 15 good friends

  • 50 friends

  • 150 meaningful contacts

  • 500 acquaintances

  • 1500 people you can recognize

Dunbar’s Number might not be perfect, but it’s a fun way to look at why you’re tight with some and not with others.

That’s it buds!

Chalo happy weekend!!
